The Andy Kessler Skatepark, located in Riverside Park at 12th Ave & 110th Street, is a significant and historic skateboarding destination in New York City. Originally opened in 1996, it was the first full-sized public skatepark in Manhattan. The park features a variety of obstacles designed for skaters of all skill levels, including a deep pool (11 feet in the deep end), and a street plaza with stairs, ledges, rails, banks, and a 4-foot mini-ramp. These features make it a versatile space for both street skating and pool skating enthusiasts.
In addition to its renowned design, the skatepark was renamed in honor of Andy Kessler in 2020, a move that acknowledged Kessler’s instrumental role in creating the park. The space has undergone several renovations over the years, including a concrete remodel completed between 2019 and 2021, ensuring the park remains a key spot for skaters across the city.
The skatepark also hosts annual events, such as the Riverside Skate Jam, which features various competitions for different age groups and skill levels. This event, along with the park's unique design, continues to make Andy Kessler Skatepark a celebrated location for both local and visiting skaters
