Exposure Skate
Exposure Skate is a nonprofit skateboarding community in Encinitas focused on empowering women, girls and nonbinary skaters through classes, camps, events and service-based programming.
Exposure Skate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Encinitas, California, dedicated to creating space for women, girls and nonbinary individuals through skateboarding. Founded in 2012, it grew out of a need to build more opportunity and visibility for skaters who were often left out of the mainstream scene.
The organization’s work goes beyond competition. Its programs include skate clinics, camps, retreats, college scholarships and events that blend skateboarding with mindfulness, social and emotional learning, leadership and community service. That mix gives Exposure a clear identity: it is as much about building confidence and connection as it is about riding.
Exposure is also known for its major annual event, which has become one of the most recognized women’s skateboarding competitions in the world. Over time, the nonprofit has built a broad community through inclusive programming, collaborations and volunteer-driven efforts, while also supporting causes such as domestic violence services.
For skaters and supporters looking for a community-minded organization with a strong mission, Exposure Skate stands out for its focus on access, representation and long-term impact.
