The Skatepark Project is a nonprofit organization founded by Tony Hawk in 2002 with a simple but far-reaching goal: help communities create public skateparks that are safe, inclusive, and built to last. Based in Vista, California, the organization works with local groups and advocates to support projects that can serve as meaningful gathering places for young skaters and the wider community.

Rather than functioning like a traditional skate brand or retail space, The Skatepark Project is centered on advocacy, funding, and community support. Its work includes skatepark grants, legacy projects led by communities, equipment access, Indigenous programs, technical resources, and broader efforts to support inclusive skate spaces in the U.S. and beyond.

What stands out most is the organization’s emphasis on access and activation. The Skatepark Project is not just about getting a park built, but about helping communities shape spaces that feel welcoming and useful once they open. That makes it especially relevant for places where public skateboarding can have a strong social impact.
