Skate Chicago Annual Skating Event

Skate Chicago held its 2025 edition from August 14 through August 17 as a free four-day recreational street-skating weekend in Chicago. Inline and quad skaters from the city and beyond gathered for social routes through different neighbourhoods, with every main skate meeting at Daley Plaza near the Picasso sculpture.

The programme included 12- and 13-mile Thursday and Friday night routes meeting at 7:30 PM, a 20-mile Saturday daytime skate with a lunch break meeting at 10:00 AM, a Saturday sunset beach gathering, and a 13-mile Sunday morning route meeting at 9:30 AM. Registration and a signed waiver were required, and skaters received wristbands after completing the process.

Participants were required to wear a helmet and needed reliable stopping, turning, hill-control, and street-hazard skills for cracks, potholes, curbs, railroad tracks, wet pavement, and mixed city traffic. The August 2025 edition has ended, so this page now serves as an archive.
