Wednesday Night Skate NYC is a free seasonal street skate meeting at the south side of Union Square Park in Manhattan. Schedule: Wednesdays during the outdoor season, generally April through October. Meet around 7:45 PM for an 8:00 PM rollout. A typical changing route is approximately 12 miles and about two hours. The skate is weather dependent. Participants should be comfortable stopping, turning, maintaining group pace, and skating city streets after dark.
What to expect
Recurring sessions can change because of weather, holidays, venue operations, route conditions, or organizer availability. Check the same-day status before travelling.
Participant preparation
Inline skaters should arrive with properly fitted skates, a helmet, and protective equipment appropriate to their experience. For street or group routes, lights, reflective clothing, water, and reliable stopping skills are strongly recommended.
Before you go
Confirm the final date, local start time, check-in or rollout time, and exact meeting point.
Review registration deadlines, entry fees, ticketing, age or skill restrictions, waivers, and refund policies.
Check weather, surface or ice conditions, transport, parking, accessibility, rentals, and venue rules.
Use the organizer’s latest post—not an older calendar copy—as the final authority for schedule changes.

I always bring my GoPro because this skate is full of amazing moments. The city lights, the tunnels, and the bridges make for epic footage. If you love capturing movement and energy, this is the perfect event.”
Wednesday Night Skate is an absolute blast! The energy of skating through NYC with a huge crowd is unreal. The route is well-planned, with plenty of smooth roads and iconic city views. My only tip—bring good wheels because some streets can be rough!
This is my favorite way to spend a Wednesday night. The music, the lights, and the community make it feel like a rolling party. I usually stop for photos because the views are amazing. Definitely recommend!
This skate is my weekly cardio! The 12-mile route is long enough to push yourself, but there are enough stops to rest. I love how everyone encourages each other, especially on the uphill sections.
I convinced my whole friend group to come, and now we’re hooked. It’s so much fun skating in a pack, weaving through traffic together. We’ve even made friends with other skaters who now join us for weekend sessions.
I was visiting NYC and decided to join after seeing a post about it. Best decision ever! Skating through Times Square and under the bridges at night was surreal. It was a little intense at times, but the adrenaline rush was worth it.
I was a little nervous about joining because I’m not the fastest skater, but everyone was super welcoming. I stuck to the back, and a few experienced skaters helped me with tips. The vibe is fun, but be prepared for a workout!
I’ve been doing WNS for years, and it never gets old. The best part is the mix of people—some skaters are dancing, some are zooming, and others are just cruising. We always end up at a bar afterward, which makes for great post-skate stories!
